à propos
Bilal is a tribute.
To who? It doesn’t really matter.

It is above all the fruit of the encounter between Uriel Kadafi (A Far-Off Reason, Triceracops) and Raphaël Léger, somewhere on the French Riviera, sometime during the autumn of 2014. Their shared love for elegant and asymmetrical riffs quickly materialized in the form of a few compositions sketched out by four hands and two brains.

In 2015, they were joined by the Lyon-based duo of Yann Marteil (Garmonbozia, A Shrimp Case) and Louis Weill (A Shrimp Case).

Bilal was born.

Bilal conjures up the seventies rock-prog culture of some, the math-rock & post-rock influences of others as well as everyone's passion for adventurous music. Its music is epic but not pompous, refined but not pretentious, it's rock’n’roll but delicate, reckless but precise, sometimes a bit complex - but always relevant.

Bilal’s first album is a collection of six compositions put together on the band’s journey between 2015 and 2016 and extensively taken out on the road and played ever since.
